Powder Magazine Photo of the Day
Photos by Liam Doran
It’s always incredible to see all the hard work, time and effort that was put in come to fruition. Although the above photo wasn’t laid to ink, I’m stoked that it was published online so viewers can see, yes it does snow in Colorado and yes this is an incredibly beautiful place to ski. Last season photographer Liam Doran came up from his home town, Breckenridge, Colorado, on an assignment for Onthesnow.com. The above photo was captured during our first day shooting at Aspen Highlands. This was a particularly great day, with a lot of new snow stacking up, storm riding conditions keeping other skiers off the mountain and some help from ski patrol with access to some unique zones. Take an inside look into the photo shoot that produced the above.
He couldn’t have hit it any more perfectly.
Arriving on the heels of a storm cycle, we had received several new inches overnight and over two feet within the last 48 hours. With it still snowing, Liam’s timing and start to his trip to Aspen couldn’t have been anymore perfect.
Day 2 Started with Espresso and Bluebird Skies on Aspen Mountain
With some great light, we samples airs, powder and some of the great sidecountry off Aspen Mountain.
